The Trainer Stats Recap

Yesterday's Betting Insiders Club Portfolio racing tip was a winner being backed in to 15/8F.

Today Nick from the Betting Insiders team is today giving us a recap of some of the trainer stats for today's racing over at Hamilton and Ffos Las.

Last week’s post was frustrating as our pick for the Ebor turned out to be a non-runner. This week we look at some more trainer statistics and also have a recap on some of the trainer stats we have covered in the past.

David Brown has an excellent recent record at Hamilton. In the last 2 years he has sent out 6 winners from 14 runners at a strike rate of 43% and recorded a level stakes profit of £14.00. This year his runners are 4-11 (which is still a healthy 36% strike rate) and backing all 11 runners would have returned a profit of £8.00 to £1 stakes.

At the time of writing his Friday entries are Sir Jack Layden and Henry Morgan.

The last named has course form of 11592214 and is 3lbs above his last winning mark. It looks like he has had his problems over the years as at the age of 8 he has raced just 19 times, winning 4.

Sir Jack Layden is an interesting character. Once rated 105 he finished 3rd in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes in 2013 and was then thought good enough to contest the UAE Derby. However, his only win in 16 starts was a maiden back in 2013 and his mark has plummeted to 80. Recent runs suggest a revival is not imminent and he will most likely be one of the outsiders in this field.

Finally we head to Ffos Las where David Evans leads the way in 2015 with 5 winners from his 23 runners at a strike rate of 22% and a profit of £51. He has three entered today in Sark, Peak Hill and Sir Billy Wright.

Sark finished last of 9 on racecourse debut and is probably best watched for now. Peak Hill won his second start before bumping into a couple of smart ones from Mark Johnston and Brian Meehan and Sir Billy Wright has won his last two (both at Ffos Las) and has gone up 8lbs in the process. This looks tougher as he steps up in class but he should appreciate the forecast heavy ground.

A few weeks ago we highlighted William Haggas as a trainer with an excellent record at the Thirsk. That day his one entry ended up being a non-runner but since then he has bagged a nice 4/1 winner from his three subsequent runners to leave his 2015 record at 4 wins from 8 runners. We also highlighted Ralph Beckett’s seasonal form at Chepstow last month and he has continued in good form with a 4/1 winner from his last 3 runners there.

Whilst the horses we namecheck here on a Friday from our trainer stats articles will not always win, the main objective is to give you something to follow or to factor into your race analysis for the rest of the season. Even if you do fancy any of the runners we highlight here on a Friday only back them if you think the price is value.

Best of luck.
