Clash of the Season & Galway Selection

Good morning all,

What a strange old month it’s been.  As one correspondent commented last week, my tipping for the Daily Punt has been woeful. Yet, Victor Value subscribers are 65pts up since June 25th and added 13pts to the betting bank on Friday & Saturday. Just at the right time for Goodwood & Galway.  I just don’t seem to put the right ones up for the readers of this column. Hopefully I can put that right between Tuesday & Thursday as I will be concentrating on Goodwood with the odd nod to racing across the Irish Sea.

Inside today’s main piece you can read my thoughts on the King George & Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes. Plus, there's a full race preview of the feature race of day one at the Galway Festival.

Eyecatchers

Good morning all,

I'd like to tell you I'm back and refreshed from a week away, but sadly we got caught up in the “pingdemic” and that's meant we couldn't get out and have a break. We'll try again in a few weeks time.

In the meantime, the latest round-up of horses I've seen that I think are going to be winning races in the near future, plus a selection from Uttoxeter.

Sandown Patent

Good morning all,

There is a veritable feat of summer racing to look forward to over the next ten days. Ascot and York get the show underway on Friday with two-day meetings. On Monday its start of the Galway Festival and Tuesday it’s the start of five days racing on the Sussex Downs at ‘Glorious’ Goodwood.

The best of Saturday’s action at both Ascot & York can be seen on ITV as part of a seven-race programme.

Sandown Selection

Good morning all,

Hopefully there will be a big crowd to enjoy Saturday’s King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday. For what looks a vintage renewal of the race.

Yesterday, it was announced that Mishriff would come to Ascot rather than go to York for an alternative engagement. He will join the likes of ante post favourite Love and Derby winner Adayar and Irish Derby runner-up Lone Eagle, in what is shaping to be the race of the season so far. Wonderful Tonight could also take her place in the line-up although I doubt she will be risked if the ground is too quick.

Sadly, there will be one strong contender missing from the line-up and its Pyledriver.  The 4-year-old has had minor setback which means he’s forced to miss Saturday’s race. If the issue proves to be a minor one. He could go to York for the International Stakes or be kept for the big autumn middle-distance races.

Inside today's main piece you can read my thoughts on a couple of Saturday's big races at Ascot. Plus, I there is a selection from this evening's meeting at Sandown.
