Kempton Analysis

Hi all,

It seems there's no escaping the persistent rain lately. Conditions at Musselburgh on Friday were quite dreadful, although it was sunny and pleasantly warm in my part of Yorkshire. The weather seems to be all over the place, but for now, we don't have to worry about watering for the start of Thursday's Aintree Grand National Festival.

Regarding Saturday's action, as anticipated, we lost Kelso to the weather. ITV Racing has had to make adjustments to its offering by replacing the four Kelso races with two more races from Kempton and one each from Chelmsford and the Curragh.

Let's hope for better weather in the coming days and some exciting racing ahead at the Aintree Grand National Festival.

My Kempton analysis can be found below.

Stefano Cherchi RIP

Hi all,

It was truly heartbreaking to learn of the passing of jockey Stefano Cherchi, just two weeks after suffering a fall while riding in Australia. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the immense risks that jockeys face every time they mount a horse. It's a sobering reality that deserves recognition, especially when considering the abuse that jockeys sometimes endure, whether on social media or at the track.

In moments like these, when a young life is lost at the age of 23, it puts into perspective the triviality of my offering in today’s column.

Stefano’s death serves as a poignant reminder to cherish each moment and to extend compassion and respect to those who put their lives on the line for the sport we love.
