With David away for a few days I'm going to try and find you something interesting to read and a tip each day in the hope that you don't miss him too much.
Today I have a selection from John Burke, who writes the Monday column here and who also posts daily stats bets in the Betting School Insiders Club members forum and that is where today's tip has been taken from (with permission of course).
Before I get to the tip and the stats that highlighted it just a quick mention of a new product launch that is going on today which may be of interest.
The product rates every runner in every race according to the VDW methodology. This is a class and ability rating method that was made famous in the 80's but has the downside of being very time consuming.
It also results in a lot of wasted time compiling the ratings for a race only to find out that there's not a clear winner indicated.
Software fixes the time wasting issue as you can scan through the pie chart for each race and clearly see if one runner stands out.
Where this new software improves upon that is that it looks back at previous races of the same type and determines if VDW ratings were successful in the past. If they were then there is a higher chance of success this time and so the rating are improved.
I can't do this software justice in a few words here, so if it is of interest follow this link for full details. There's also a free guide to creating VDW ratings manually.

MARKET RASEN
Trainer Dan Skelton & jockey Harry Skelton are partnership to note at Market Rasen. Since 2014 they have had 19 winners from 53 runners 33% +15.37 A/E 1.21 32 placed 56%. He is also 4 winners from 9 runners 44% +15.98 A/E 1.86 6 placed 67% in Class 4 Handicap Hurdles at the course.
They team up with three today:
The one that interests me most is Future Security in the handicap hurdle at 3:25. The 9-year-old is having his first run for the trainer and his first start for 588 days on what looks a more than workable mark.. Should be ready to go first time and the trainer can prepare one after an absence.
