No not the crazy chinese man from the Pink Panther films.
Kauto Star the wonder horse, L'Extraterrestre (The Extraterrestrial) at 12 years old it's nearly time for retirement and it all hangs on his performance in the Betfair Chase at Haydock on Saturday, which the form book says he can't win (on recent form). Cornelius Lysaght has done a nice piece on the BBC website which takes a brief look at the Star's career and recent disappointments.
Onto money matters and the latest tipping service that I am trialling.
Sam Ringsell states that sometimes trainers place horses in races they cannot win and Racing Post spotlights are forecasting some of these horses as favourites.
Now I know that trainers place horses in races that they cant win either because of stupidity or for other reasons. (By the way there is a piece on the Racing Post site today about the latest trainer and jockey corruption cases)
How the spotlight can then make them favourite is another matter. Although I had an interesting conversation with Michael Wilding recently where he stated that the Racing Post don't make the horse most likely to win the favourite but rather they are indicating how they think the public will bet, an interesting distinction.
Anyway back to Sam Ringsell, he claims to have not had a losing week (yes week) since he started in April!
It's very early days for me with this yet but the message rings true for me. I'm not sure if it is being promoted currently because I found it via the back door, but if you got to Sportsworld Publishing and look for Lay of Your Life you can read more about Sam.
IACGMOOH – Mark Wright has shortened a bit, but this is because Freddie is out rather than because his poularity has increased. Also Fatima has turned out to be a bit of a control freak who cant let things go. Still I cant see him winning and in my book he is still a value lay bet and yes my money is down.
