Jumps Are (Slightly) Back

Good morning all,

After a short break (seems like longer for us hedgehopping fans) we finally get some jumping action courtesy of Worcester and Newton Abbot. Sadly I’ll be working in the rain at Beverley (Ladies Day, hurrah!) but what better way to celebrate than have a look at a couple of races and sort out some 20-1 plus shots? Just want the one to drop…

Yesterday’s selection did no damage, placed at 12-1 and hopefully we can kick on from that and have a decent week.

6.00 Worcester

This is going to be run at a very fast pace. Take your pick from Centreofexcellence, Why Lie, Patsio and possibly By Rail for the role of pacemaker and there are other pace pressers in the field too. This is going to suit a hold-up horse that travels, and there are a couple that fit the bill.

One is the disappointing Caroline’s Charm, who travelled like the best horse at Uttoxeter last time out and on the home turn, looked a major threat. However, his wind issues (he wears a tongue tie) seemed to once again come back to give him trouble and he stopped very quickly. This offers him another suitable chance, and any rain shouldn’t be an issue (bumper form came with some cut).

Just Marvin is still on my tracker after his effort at Southwell last year, where a last-of-three finish didn’t tell the whole story. He’s not built on that but it’s still early days and it wasn’t terrible at Uttoxeter last time. I do have a slight concern if the ground turned a lot slower but in truth he’s not yet tried it, and he could even improve on it. So I shall try two small e/w bets, with Skybet going 5 places. (Update – both been well backed overnight too!)

2.10 Newton Abbot

I have a couple of major reservations about tracker horse London Glory here – one, there’s no sign of any headgear (which he probably needs) and two, given connections, chances are this is all about getting a handicap mark for the horse. Now the positives – he jumped very nicely at Southwell when taking on a couple of decent sorts, particularly as he’d been off a year, wasn’t knocked about and he won’t mind the ground. Yes, Pacify should win this but London Glory could get beat 20l here and still fall in the frame. 66-1? Yeah, small e/w bet, why not?

Today's selection (for those that just want one) – Just Marvin 6.00 Worcester

Good luck with all your bets today,

Was going to go myself and say hi to you, but going to give it a miss as bad weather forecast, and the bars will be stacked with Racegoers avoiding the weather

Be interesting to read a Report (if you do one) on the Day!!

Well Dave and everybody I’m currently on a sunbed in Spain for 14 days and was so looking forward to reading the Punt and the preview and putting some bets on at my leisure through my betting app. Well in Spain I cannot access it!!!! Apparently my brother in law informed me online gambling via the British app is illegal…..gutted! No winners please lol.
