Good morning all,
Just about dried out from Rasen yesterday – not a lot for trackers but you might want to put Perfect City, third in the first race in, as he'll improve plenty next time out. Probably the soggiest I've been on track for a while!
Anyway, the emails went mad yesterday with tracker horses running over the next day or two – not saying they'll all win, but they're all of some interest to me, so thought I'd share the most interesting ones with you.
There will be a video tomorrow morning but chances are it won't go up until about 10, as I'll not record it today (I'm at Warwick) and will be doing form study later on.
2.25 Warwick, today
Avantgardiste (Henry Oliver)
To be fair, we've already had a win out of Avantgardiste who went on the tracker after an eyecatching sixth at Chepstow in January and it didn't take him long to make his mark once handicapped, winning over 2m5f here in March and then following that up with another good effort at Newbury on his final start of last year. Given they are starting him out over 2m today, it would rather look as if this is a run to blow the cobwebs away, but if you've not already got him on your trackers then do so, because he'll be winning more.
2.35 Fontwell today
Another that's already scored once going handicapping when scooting up by 15l here last December, so clearly likes Fontwell and soft ground is no issue to him either. He backed that run up with two further solid efforts and came back from his summer break to run perfectly respectably over this C&D last time out. He'll strip a lot fitter for that and despite a 14-1 price tag, I wouldn't rule out further improvement this year, and is capable of winning this.
4.40 Southwell tomorrow
First caught my eye when she was last of 8 at Beverley in a claimer this summer – not so much for the run, although despite finishing last, she was beaten under 6l – but the fact she was then claimed by Robyn Brisland, who had clearly seen something he liked. And the fact the Newark handler is getting a team together for the Fibresand at Southwell this winter, it made some sense that he was aiming her that way too. And sure enough, she ran a much better race at Southwell last time out, finishing a staying-on fourth to three much higher rated rivals in a maiden. She goes up to a mile here, which should help, and despite the fact she's plenty on at the weights (she's one of the lowest rated in the field) I'll be trying a bit e/w on her.
2.25 Wincanton, Saturday
Probably went into a load of notebooks after his chasing debut at Warwick where he finished third to Nube Negra after a solid round of jumping before just getting a bit tired late on and fading to finish a very respectable third. This giant of a horse has loads of scope and he returns to the scene of his hurdles win of last March. Connections are wasting little time getting him over fences and the fact they are having a crack at this Grade 2 event shows their confidence in the horse. Win or lose, definitely one to have onside this year.
Today's selection – Mazalto 2.35 Fontwell
Best of luck with all your bets today,
