Football & Racing Tips

Today we have football tips from The Alternative Punters Syndicate and a recap of Nick Hardman's racing tips.

==========

Happy New Year to all Daily Punt subscribers and hopefully a few of you were on our Boxing Day selections for the King George and Welsh National.

On to today and a couple of things I want to share with you.

First up is the Henderson/ Geraghty combination at Sandown.

Since 2010 they have teamed up for 25 winners from just 77 rides, producing a level stakes profit of £29.28 at a strike rate of 32%.

2014 in particular was a good time to back the pair as they managed 5 winners from 13 runners and a level stakes profit of £21.92 (38% strike rate).

In addition to that they have a 52% strike rate in non-handicap hurdle races at the course. On Saturday they team up on the following horses at Sandown:

For Friday I have a few qualifiers from some more systems I am road testing. The qualifiers are:

Southwell Friday January 2nd 2015

12.50pm Wrenigham @12/1
1.55pm Beautiful Stranger @11/2
2.30pm Poppy Bond @11/2

Wreningham has not won for an eternity but has course figures 811332 and is 5lbs below his last winning mark. He could reward each-way backers and Joe Fanning is on board.

Beautiful Stranger is trained by Keith Dalgleish a trainer with a superb record with his handicappers at the Midlands course.

Poppy Bond has two wins and three seconds from 9 AW starts and drops back in trip here after travelling well on her last start. She finished a good second on her last try over track and trip in August 2013.

Wolverhampton Friday January 2nd 2015

5.15pm Little Lord Nelson
6.45pm Tsarglas

Little Lord Nelson ran well on tapeta debut last month and is an interesting runner taking a big drop in trip for a trainer with a good record at Wolverhampton.

Stable mate Tsarglas was a last time out winner and there may be more to come with Adam Kirby an eye-catching booking.

As always, if you are having a bet on these selections then please wager sensibly as these systems are very much a work in progress.

Best of luck.

Nick Hardman

Yesterday the first selection was pulled out of its intended engagement leaving just Madrasa who proved to be disappointing in finishing unplaced despite attracting market support into 6/4 from the early 5/2.

For today we turn to a Sir Mark Prescott trained 3yo gelding who has been noted in our “Well-Handicapped horses” community thread by author Jon Gibby.

Slip Of The Tongue lacks a turn of foot and needs to force the pace and it was understandable LTO that he was tapped for toe in a race run at a slow early pace. He now has a staggering nine entries over the coming five days (is that a record?) and that is a sure sign that connections mean business! He may well win today and then follow up under a penalty. Hopefully we will see a change of tactics and a forcing ride employed!

The Inside Track from Betting Insiders

We had another positive last week where pundit Carl Nicholson's 3 Star Nap Riverside Theatre duly obliged.

This weekend he had a lively priced horse to tickle our fancies. Unfortunately it has since been pulled out of its intended engagement!

As a result we're going to have a play with an in form trainer's runners.

Donald McCain has been firing in the winners all season. During the current month he has amassed 8 victories from 43 recording a decent level stake profit at SP.

However 6 of those 8 were over the smaller obstacles. He has an uncanny knack of getting the best out of these types.

At the moment he has a couple entered at Newcastle on Saturday and also at Towcester on Sunday.

It could well pay to give all of them that take up their entries a very close inspection.

The horses to note are:-

Sat – Newc 13:50 – Mountain Hiker

Sat – Newc 16:00 – Agent Archie

Sun – Towc 14:20 – It's Oscar

Sun – Towc 14:50 – Dj Milan

The first of those named must be trying his new connections patience.

He clearly has ability after being rated 95 on the flat before being sold out of Jeremy Noseda's yard last November. To date he hasn't shown a lot on three runs over hurdles.

Just prior to his last run McCain was quoted as saying “He is clearly a bit quirky but there is an engine there if he can get it all together.”

Tomorrow may not turn out to be the day but it will hopefully be a case of sooner rather than later.
