We're going to have a little interlude from the Greyhound method today and instead I have a quick system idea for the horse bettors…
I was just reading some more of the ‘Thoughts and Secrets of Successful Punters' last night and was reading the section where they interviewed the commentator Richard Hoiles.
Richard mentioned what he called a ‘little goldmine' so I thought I'd pass the tidbit on to you.
Basically he was talking about keeping his own list of inform and out of form trainers.
An inform one is a trainer who's has managed a win or place for 50% of his recent runners, with the data taken from The Racing Post's ‘Today's Trainers' section.
An out of form trainer is one who is on a losing run of 20.
His ‘goldmine' is the created when a small trainer moves from out of form to in form. These trainers will likely have a ‘purple patch' and then start to struggle again as their horses become to high in the weights.
Food for thought? If you use a similar approach I'd love to hear about it, similarly if you would like to write an article for Daily Punt then do reply to one of our emails with an outline of your proposed article.
