Friday Round-Up

Good morning all,

Plenty on today as I'll be doing the Bangor comments for the Sporting Life tomorrow, so waiting for the final decs to come out at 10.30. Then I've got the Downpatrick card on Sunday as well, so I'll be cracking on with that afterwards!

Plans for Garthorpe tomorrow have been shelved as I'm staying down South for another day but I may go to Newbury tomorrow if time allows instead.

Today, a review of some interesting races I've seen on the smaller tracks over the past few days, plus one of my Cheltenham Horses to Follow. The rest will be in this month's Betting Insiders.

Sick As A Parrot, Brian.

Good morning all,

Any hopes of a trip to Worcester were dashed first thing (well, in the night actually) and a temperature at 38.3 kicks in and frankly I can barely move. Just feel absolutely washed out and I'll be back in bed as soon as I've written today's piece. Apologies if it's not the usual standard but I'm really not up to a lot this morning.

Absolutely gutted I didn't put Mariah's Legend up as the selection yesterday. She was one of my ten to follow at the beginning of the season (if you've not got those and want them, drop your email in the comments) but hadn't progressed as I thought she would, mainly because she wasn't settling. There were no issues on that score yesterday and she looked a different horse, scooting up at 33-1. Now she knows what it's all about she should win more.

Three races looked at today. Read More »Sick As A Parrot, Brian.

The Charmer Goes Again

Good morning all,

After working in the betting rings for the last few weeks and not actually getting to see much action, it was good to get back to paddock watching at Doncaster yesterday and there's a couple of races reviewed on the main email. There's going to be quite a few reviews this week as it's Lingfield today, quite possibly Hereford tomorrow, Leicester on Thursday and Huntingdon on Friday. Then back in the ring at Warwick Saturday. No rest for the wicked!

We're off to Lingfield today – I say we, that's me and the racing wife, Becky (every racing man should have one) to see how Coole Charmer gets on in his second handicap. My thoughts on that, plus those Doncaster races (with a couple for your trackers) on the main piece.

Sandown Saturday

Good morning all,

Off to Sandown shortly to work in Tatts for the day, so hoping the worst of the weather has already passed.

It's going to be pretty testing there today after 6mm of rain overnight, and I'd expect a few non-runners before racetime.

Wincanton also stage a televised fixture this afternoon and it's to be hoped the fog doesn't descend too badly – we don't want another Haydock-like fiasco from a few weeks ago.

My thoughts on today's TV races on the main piece. Read More »Sandown Saturday
