Saturday Selections

Good morning all,

A day when we will hopefully find a few more Cheltenham clues, which is now under seven weeks away. I’m making my final arrangements as regards accommodation and accreditation for the Festival, which is when I first start to get a bit of a buzz!

There’s also some cracking contests at Doncaster, including the Skybet Chase, which looks very competitive, and the Lightning, which has only attracted the three runners but it’s a chance for the forgotten Third Time Lucki to get himself back on track for the Sporting Life.

From next Friday I’ll start looking at a few ante-post bets we could have, as the firms are now starting to go non-runner no bet on a lot of races, which opens up options. For today, here’s my thoughts on some of the big races.

Southwell – The Story So Far…

Good morning all,

My local track, Southwell, changed surface from Fibresand to Tapeta last year and has had quite a bit of racing on it since, with January a particularly busy month. The track is still evolving and bedding in to a certain extent, but has it thrown anything interesting up in terms of any draw biases as yet? I've been logging the winners and where they come from since it reopened, and my thoughts are on today's main piece.

Winter Weekend!

Good morning all,

It’s non-stop for me for the next three days, with Lingfield-Ascot-Lingfield being the order of the weekend. I’m excited to see how the new Lingfield Million Weekend goes down and how much attention it will garner, and as a jumps aficionado Sunday looks a cracking card, if the entries hold up. Throw in the Clarence House in the middle and that’s a great weekend for me!

Let’s take a look through Lingfield’s Friday card and see if we can’t find a winner or two.
