Kerry National Preview

Morning all,

There was bit of autumn feel about Tuesday morning in my neck of the woods. It was sunny with mainly blue skies but I’m sure you get my drift.

There’s another sign of autumn today. Over at the Listowel Festival it’s the Guinness Kerry National (3.55).  It’s the first of the big Irish handicap chases of the autumn/winter campaign and a bit of hint that the start of the new winter jumps season is just weeks away.

Listowel Festival Selections

Morning all,

The action switches from the jumpers to the flat on day three of the Listowel Festival. The feature race of an eight-race card is the Listed Edmund & Josie Whelan Memorial Listowel Stakes (4.37). This side of the Irish Sea, there’s an afternoon flat card at Beverley, all weather action at Lingfield and a jumps card at Warwick. The Tuesday racing is completed by a twilight card at Newcastle.

Inside today’s main piece, you’ll find two handicappers for the tracker who can win a race before the season is over. Plus, I have had a brief look at the last three races at Listowel.

Bielsa Scores

Morning all,

A sell-out 12,000 crowd was in attendance at Ayr for Gold Cup Day. That was in sharp contrast to the 120 who were on course last year.  Racegoers got to enjoy both the sunny weather and Scotland’s most valuable day’s racing of the flat season.

Inside today’s main piece, you can read my thoughts on Saturday’s action at Ayr and Newbury. Plus, I have a selection from day two of the Listowel Festival.

Ayr Selection

Morning all,

I had Wi-Fi issues last evening so I’m running behind schedule this morning which means today’s column is shorter than usual.

It's the final day of Yarmouth’s Eastern Festival today and that coincides nicely with the start of Ayr’s Western Meeting which culminates on Saturday with the Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup.  There are some big field sizes for some fairly run of the mill handicaps. The highlight of an eight-race card is the Virgin Bet Kilkerran Cup Handicap (4.10).

There are also afternoon fixtures at Pontefract and Naas and the evening action comes from Chelmsford.

Inside today’s main piece I have had a look at Saturday’s big 2-year-old race at Newbury. Plus, the big race at Ayr this afternoon.
