Take Edwardstone Without Jonbon

Hi all,

A short Saturday main piece.

Well Aintree failed its early morning inspection which messed things up for me as I was previewing the three ITV races from Aintree in today’s main piece.

Sandown faces a second inspection at 9:30 to see if Tingle Creek Day can go ahead. Wetherby’s morning meeting will take place as should Navan which features a Grade 2 novice hurdle and two competitive Listed handicaps.

Sandown: Tingle Creek Day

I have put up my selections for the Sandown’s handicaps which you can get here.

As I mentioned in Thursday’s column, we have a small but select field for the Grade 1 Betfair Henry VIII Novices' Chase (1:50). Down Memory Lane would make some appeal at 3/1 but it’s a race, I can watch rather than bet on.

In the Grade 1 Tingle Creek Chase (3:00) Jonbon wins if he stands up. I had looked at Edwardstone each way at around 9/1 until we had the inevitable non-runner taking the field down to seven runners. Edwardstone still makes appeal at 11/4 with William Hill in the without Jonbon market. Or you could go for a small win bet and a loaded place bet on Edwardstone.

On Sunday, the spotlight shifts to Huntingdon, featuring the Grade 2 TrustATrader Peterborough Chase (1.50), and Kelso, with the Bruce Farms Scottish Borders National (2.05) as the day’s highlight.

ITV4 are covering seven races from Huntingdon and Kelso for an extra pre-Christmas treat on Sunday afternoon.

Good luck with your Saturday bets.

John
