Good morning all,

Happy Birthday to me, then! 50 years old. Can't say I feel a day over 49. Thanks to my wonderful partner Caroline for organising a superb day at Southwell yesterday, it was a laugh from start to finish and I have to say I was delighted when Jonjo won “my” race (although my pocket wasn't)! That man can tell some stories, when he packs up training there's surely a career as a raconteur on the racing circuit! What a day.

Today, I'm having a day out at Warwick and I fancy my chances with that card. That can't end well, can it? Here's the second part of my Aintree tales from the weekend, plus a a selection I like a lot….

Aintree – Grand National Day

Good morning all,

The wi-fi has done for me so no video this weekend I'm afraid. I'd have loved to have done one later from the track but we're not allowed to film, so that's the end of that.

All I'll say is, make sure all your relatives pay on (a concept my two don't seem to have worked out yet) and let's hope for an exciting race with them all home safe. Have a a good weekend everyone, and I'll be back Tuesday with some Tales From The Rails (and believe me, there are some.).

Aintree – Day 2

“A chance of light rain from mid-afternoon” said the forecast. How wrong they were. Soaked by the time we got back to our digs last night, took us an hour and more to dry out!

Suffice to say it's riding very slow out on the track, you could see that for yourselves yesterday. Expect a raft of non-runners. And sell finishers for the National at anything around 11….

Anyway, a decent start to the week yesterday, tipping wise – here's hoping we can build on that today. Read on…
