Beat The Odds and you Will Profit

Sometimes in life we need to remind ourselves of the fundamentals of whatever we are striving to be successful with in order to get our ship back on course.

With betting the biggest fundamental is value and the easiest way to make money from betting is to make your bets at odds that are better than starting price.

And beat starting price when it is adjusted down for a true market IE the prices make up a 100% chance when all possible outcomes are added up.

Starting price, especially these days with the betting exchange markets is an easy and reasonably reliable indicator of the true price/chance for any runner.

And the easiest and most efficient way to do that these days is to beat Betfair SP.

Betfair SP makes up to 100% and the prices are fair to both backers and layers.

If you can beat the Betfair SP consistently then you will make a profit.

There are tipping services that base their whole selection criteria around betting on horses that are showing signs that they will shorten in price from the morning bookie price to the starting price.

Although that is a winning strategy in itself, a better strategy is to study form and make your own selections, determine your own prices and bet where the early prices are bigger than your assessment.

That can be hard work though and you may want somebody to tell you what to bet to beat the market and if you want to be a winner without the work I would recommend Rory Delargy of the http://racingconsultants.co.uk

Rory regularly beats Betfair starting price and consequently he makes steady and consistent profits.

he also gives a full analysis of every bet he gives so you know exactly why they have made each bet. These write ups invariably include other profitable info and bets that are below Rory's minimum price

Claiming Trainers – Further Investigation

I've done a little more research on our trainers that do well in Claimers and I'll update you on that shortly.

First a couple of news items to share…

Bet Victor are now Non Runner No Bet on the Grand National, so if your selection doesnt run you get your money back. This might be useful if you are thinking of taking a price on something.

Secondly one of the services we have recommended previously had a cracking Cheltenham with 75 points profit from the four days of the festival. The service in question is Nicky Doyle's Bet Alchemist, here's what Nicky says…

The timing is perfect to get on board as I have some excellent bets lined up for the Irish Grand National & Powers Gold Cup at the Fairyhouse Easter FestivalMeeting, all the top races including the Grand National at the Aintree Festival not to mention the Punchestown Festival later in April. The service continues throughout the summer with bets in all the top flat and NH races like the English, Irish & French Guineas, all the Derby’s, Royal Ascot, Glorious Goodwood July meeting etc etc.

So I've done some more research into the Claiming Trainers that I mentioned yesterday and have discovered a few things.

First off there were a number of the trainers that had results skewed by one or two big priced winners, with one trainer getting home two 25/1 winners in the one year, but not much else in the way of profit.

So some investigation on what might be the right upper boundary on the price is needed, with 12/1 looking to be the more sensible cut off.

There are also a number of the trainers that were profitable 6 or 7 years ago but things have changed more recently. What we really want to uncover is a trainer tactic that is ongoing so preference would be for a trainer that has consistent profits year on year or one that was a loser in these races previously but now consistently profits. Which would suggest something has changed or been learned.

Work goes on…

Free Profitable Horse Racing System

Today we have a guest article from the Betting School Insiders Club. The Insiders Club shares systems, strategies with their members every month along with daily tips from highly regarded tipsters. To find out more about the Insiders Club Click Here.

Profiting From Slow Boats

Today we have some insights from a pro-punter who has recently joined the stable of authors who share their knowledge with the long standing and very well respected Betting School Insiders Club.

Jeremiah Catskill specialises his punting activities on long distance flat races and has written a series of articles on how he makes consistent profits from them. His introduction piece was published recently in Issue 84 of the Insiders Members Report and contained a very simple yet profitable system for tackling these types of races and you can read all about it here.

Long Distance Flat Races

Stock market guru Jim Slater coined the phrase “Zulu Principle” which summed up his profitable approach. Some of you may be familiar with it and in a nutshell it embodies expertise by specialism. Pro-punter Jeremiah Catskill has run a very successful horse racing service www.tippinglegends.com which concentrates 90% of its selections on long distance flat races.

In his series of articles for the Betting Insiders Members Report he takes the readers through the background to his extensive research by covering such topics as age, class, trainers, sires and fitness, all of which have a significant bearing on the outcome of these special types of races.

In simple terms when he analyses a race he uses these key factors to match the horse most suited with the specific conditions of the race itself. Using simplified logic, if a horse isn’t suited to the conditions then it is more likely to tell over 2 miles than it is to 5f. For example if you didn’t like running when the ground was muddy, would you prefer to do it over 100 yards or a mile?

You can find out more about how you can get your hands on this insightful series and a whole lot more here.

Now it’s time to move on to the aforementioned profitable system that will hopefully land you some decent priced winners over the remainder of the season and for many years to come.
