Recovery staking a TABOO subject?

Today we have our regular Wednesday wisdom from Malcolm Pett, we also have selections for both the Headgear and Tongue Tie systems. Here's Malcolm…

Recovery staking for me has always been a taboo subject.

I have tried it in the past and lost a lot of money doing so.

When you mention recovery staking most people think about putting all your losses on the next bet and that’s the one to be AVOIDED at all costs.

Obviously a conversation about any form of staking needs a disclaimer…

Don’t do it unless you are fully aware of the cost!!!

Also there isn’t a staking system ever thought up that will allow you to make money from a system that doesn’t consistently make profit.

But I use one I actually call “Help recovery”.

It doesn’t usually recover all your losses but it seems to help.

I call it “1234..etc” staking and it works simply by…

“Increasing your stake by your ORGINAL stake every time you lose”

There are a few of things to clarify here…

It’s not doubling your stake (although bet 2 makes it look that way).

It won’t work with systems that don’t have a high strike rate.

The further you go into the sequence the less likely you are to recover your losses.

You need a stop loss setting.

Here is how it works.

1 is your original stake.

If you lose you go to 2 which is your original stake multiplied by 2.

If you lose again you go to 3 which is your original stake multiplied by 3.

And so on.

If you lose on 7 then you would have lost 28 points of your bank.

And you will need a 4/1 winner just to break even.

Which will be unlikely when used with a high strike system that this idea works best with.

So why use a staking system that won’t recover your losses?

With high strike systems you tend to get a mixture of very low prices and odds on prices.

You don’t tend to have long losing runs and so when this system does kick in it can often be for only 1 or 2 selections and the odd higher priced winner just seems to help boost up the profits.

I find with some systems this can be an extra 10 or more points a month.

A couple of tests we have been doing over at the Grey Horse Bot website have results sheets showing how this works.

Click here for an example.

Again please be warned that staking isn’t for everyone and you need to be aware of the risks.

I tend to use 7 as my maximum with this system and realise that if I hit that…

…then it is a month’s (or more) profit down the drain.

Also when using staking select a stake lower than you normal would.

1% or less of your bank.

Thanks
Malcolm

Football and Racing Tips

Today we have a football perm from The Alternative Punters Syndicate.

This week I've picked the away perm.

I am allowed to pick one of their bets each week to give away here and frankly I've picked the wrong one for the last couple of weeks.

Hopefully this week I've picked a winner.

This bet returns £58 for £1 stakes.

TAPS run a daily racing and sports tipping service and you can try it for a full month for free here https://dailypunt.com/taps

On Course Profits Issue 3

Do you know what AIORT is?

Apparently it's an Acronym for And, If, Or, Then. Which is the way that most of us create betting systems.

In the February On Course Profits magazine there is a very interesting article which explains why the way most people create betting systems doesn't work.

And explains exactly how to build systems that are much more profitable.

It makes for an interesting read and has certainly given me some food for thought.

You can get On Course Profits for free on iOS and Android devices here http://oncourseprofits.com.

If you don't have a suitable device you can also buy this edition on Amazon and read it on any device – Click Here.

We have our first qualifiers for the First Time Headgear system that we posted earlier on the week.

I'm not sure I'm ready to back these yet, maybe just very small stakes! You'll recall that we did the research on 2013 and 2014 data and that we then applied the rules to January 2015 and the results were excellent.

So there has been some forward testing.

Anyway it's up to you

First Time Headgear

13:35 Taunton 6 Flanagans Field – 20/1 Ladbrokes
14:35 Taunton 11 All Yours – 13/8 Sporting Bet

By the way 20/1 selections have been profitable in the past, but obviously the strike rate is very low.

There was a 25/1 winner on January 1st this year.

Today's Selection

Huntingdon 3.35 Chatez – win bet – 15/8 Boylesports

First Time Headgear How To?

We had a few questions yesterday asking how we find horses that are wearing headgear for the first time.

I use Horse Race Base, in their Daily Cards section there is a Shortcuts link where they list a whole host of shortcuts, one of which is 1st Time Headgear.

If you're not a Horse Race Base user then there are other places to find these horses.

In the Racing Post race cards there is a letter after the horses name that indicates the use of headgear.

Headgear –
b=blinkers,
v=visor
e/s = eyeshield
h = hood
t = tongue-strap
p = sheepskin cheekpieces.

A superior 1 denotes 1st time headgear

Here's an example from today of a horse wearing a Visor for the first time…

Visor First Time

At the Sporting Life it's the same format but the indicator is located after the horse's weight…

Sporting Life Visor

But probably the best free way to find these horses is to use the Sporting Life' Today's Pointers page which you can find in the left hand menu of the racing section.

Or go direct using this link http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/pointers

On this page they have a section for horses wearing Blinkers for the first time and also a Cheekpieces section, which lists all horses wearing cheekpieces and you can find first timers by looking for the 1 after the ‘p'.

Finally for today there is a useful page on the Racing Post that explains how to read the racecard.

Here's the link http://www.racingpost.com/horses2/cards/help.sd

Today's Selection

3:00 Southwell – Longside – Win Bet – 6/4 Bet Victor
