Hi all,
Inside today’s main piece I look at two races on this afternoon’s Thirsk card.
The final declarations are out for Saturday’s racing. Six were declared for the Group 3 Solario Stakes (3:38) at Sandown and ten for the Group 3 Atalanta Stakes (2:25). Up North at Beverley seven are set to line-up for the Beverley Bullet (2:40).
Having looked at the entries for the ITV races I don’t think I will be having too many bets.
Friday Preview
The best of today’s racing is at Thirsk. The going was being described as good, good to firm in places on Thursday evening. There was a band of rain heading to the area and there’s the possibility of some showers on Friday.
William Buick is having a good time of it at present. He’d had 16 winners from 54 rides 28% +30.81 in the two weeks leading up to racing on Thursday. Buick heads up to Thirsk on Friday for four rides. One for his boss Charlie Appleby and he could easily have a four timer. It’s hard to believe but these will be the jockey’s first rides at Thirsk in the past 5 years. Of his quartet of rides the one that appeals most Ingra Tor in the 6f handicap (3:20).
Thirsk
3:20 – Ingra Tor won twice last spring on the tapeta and turf at Newmarket in April. Ran well on two starts this spring including when a back to form ¾ length 2nd of 12 at Kempton 144 days ago. Down in class here and looks set for a good run if stall 1 isn’t an inconvenience.
Runninwild made all to win this race last year and can now race off a 3lb lower mark. He’s struggled for form on four runs this season but could easily bounce back to form today.
Tinto finished 1 ½ lengths in front of Fast And Loose when the pair were first and third respectively at Redcar 20 days ago. Strictly at the weights a 4lb pull shouldn’t be enough for Fast And Loose to reverse form with the winner but he was having his first for 11 weeks last time and could be better drawn in stall 10.
3:50 – Titan Rock is handicapped to go close in this Class 2 handicap (7f). The 5-year-old won at Wolverhampton in March and then finished a neck 2nd of 20 at York in May. He was well below par on his next two starts but has been given a 77 day break to freshen up. Well treated if bouncing back to form.
Persuasion has won just 2 of his 27 starts and the last of those two successes came over two years ago. Poor run at Yarmouth last time month to overcome but had been in good form prior to last time. Likely to need all the cards to fall right to win but today could be the day they do.
Titan Rock – 1pt win – 12/1 @ bet365.
Good luck with your Friday bets.
