Thursday Royal Ascot

Hi all,

It’s Day 3 of Royal Ascot, and in today’s main piece, you’ll find my Thursday Royal Ascot Placepot suggestions.

Wednesday started with some disappointment when Perotto finished less than a length third in the Royal Hunt Cup, and I hadn’t tipped him each way for Victor Value subscribers. Then I left Doha out of my selections in the Kensington Palace Stakes (Handicap). However, the day ended on a high note. I recommended Ain’t Nobody at 20/1 for Victor Value subscribers, and he became one of the day's biggest gambles, going off at 5/1 before winning the Windsor Castle Stakes.

I don't think I've ever had a bet in the Windsor Caste Stakes before and I wouldn't have had one this year if I hadn't been doing the 2-year-old previews for Geegeez. So, I have Matt Bisogno to thank for pushing me into looking at the juvenile races.

Royal Ascot – Day 3

It's Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot, and the Group 1 Gold Cup (4:25) is the highlight. Kyprios is a short-priced favourite as he bids to join some of the great stayers by winning this race for the second time. However, he faces nine rivals, and I don’t think it will be as easy for Kyprios as the betting suggests.

Diamond Rain will bid to maintain her unbeaten record in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes (3:45), while the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes (2:30), which opens the card, showcases speedy juveniles racing over five furlongs. Add in three big-field handicaps, and we have a card to suit every type of punter.

Just like the previous couple of days, I have covered another juvenile race for Geegeez. Today it’s the Norfolk Stakes. Unlike some of the other 2-year-old races at the meeting, I’ve only got one pick in the race. It’s at double figure odds and if you want to know what it is you’ll have to head over to Geegeez.

I’m going to have a big swing on the Thursday Royal Ascot card and I have had my biggest bet of the week so no pressure then.
