Tracker Tuesday & Nottingham Selection

Good morning all,

Its “Tracker Tuesday”.  There won’t be many horses for the virtual notebook well at least until after York’s Ebor Festival.

For those of you who follow my tracker horses. You will know they churn out plenty of winner’s and sometimes in the most unexpected places.

I put up the Joseph O’Brien trained colt State Of Rest after he finished 3rd of 11 on his seasonal return in a Listed race at the Curragh on Irish Derby Day. Well, the 3-year-old was sent over across the Atlantic to run in Saturday’s Saratoga Derby and he beat the strongly fancied Aidan O’Brien trained Bolshoi Ballet. He was returned at a juicy 21/1.

Maybe one of today’s three eyecatchers will go in at big odds to?

Inside today’s main piece I have three for the tracker. Plus, I have had a look at three races on this afternoon's Nottingham card.

Tracker Tuesday

Natural Path – Michael Bell

A winner three times when trained in France. The 4-year-old was making his debut for trainer Michael Bell in the Racing League 7f handicap won by Foxtrot Sizzler. There was plenty of encouragement to be taken from his a 2 ½ length 5th of 12. A winner on good and good to soft in France. He showed he could be effective on quicker ground here and looks on a competitive mark.

Makanah – Julie Camacho

Makanah bounced back from a poor run at Ascot when beaten a short head by Mokaatil in a Class 2 handicap at Musselburgh on Friday. Despite just six runners he didn’t get a gap 1 furlong out, but once in the clear he was flying at the finish and with a clear run would have won. He goes into the autumn a fresher horse than most and goes well on soft ground.

Magical Spirit – Kevin Ryan

Last season’s Ayr Silver Cup winner returned from a 6-week break by putting a seasonal best when a head 3rd of 10 to Tis Marvellous in the 5f handicap that opened Saturday’s Shergar Cup. He’s returned to form at the right time. He’s won three of his four starts in September and his form figures between September & November are 112414. The 5-year-old should be primed for an early autumn target after this effort with Ayr once again on the agenda or maybe the Portland Handicap at Doncaster over 5 ½ f.

Tuesday Racing

There are just four meetings and three of them are on the all-weather at Wolverhampton this afternoon and evening cards at Chelmsford and Lingfield. The sole turf fixture is at Nottingham this afternoon.

Nottingham

3:00 – Gentlemen At Arms twice a winner in 2020. Improved for the step up to around 1m 6f last autumn finishing a close-up second at Bath before winning at Newbury on heavy ground in October. Has yet to hit winning form this year but was fair third at Kempton last time. Effective on good to soft/heavy so won’t be inconvenienced if the rain arrives.  Just 2lb above his last winning mark and the yard had a winner at Wolverhampton yesterday.

3:35 – Tarboosh won a Listed race at Doncaster’s St Leger Festival last year. He ran well on his seasonal reappearance when 6th of 13 in a hot handicap at Musselburgh but has failed to fire on three subsequent starts. However. he tends to find his form in the second half of the season. Nine of his 12 career wins have come from August onwards. Single figure field sizes also suit the 8-year-old and his record in field sizes nine or less from August to October is 8 wins from 13 runs 62% +26.96 9 placed. Must give weight away to his four rivals here but still capable of a bold show if back to anything like his best.

4:10 – Bellevarde returned to winning ways at Windsor 8-days ago. A previous C&D winner has a 4lb penalty to carry for that success but if she’s in the same form as last week will be hard to beat. At her best on good or good to soft ground she probably wouldn’t want the going to ease much more.
