Value – Is It A Myth?

Good morning all,

Twitter has once again come alight with the old “is there such a thing as value?” argument after one or two Tweeters basically said that it's only value if they win.

Whilst it's true that getting value doesn't put bread on the table, there's surely a counter argument to that, which is one I try to make (again) on the main piece today.

Plus one from Market Rasen that should be a bit fitter than he was when I saw him at Southwell last time out. Read More »Value – Is It A Myth?

Charidee Race Time

Good morning all,

Off to Ascot for what looks a very difficult card and I can see the money staying in my pocket for much of the afternoon, but there's an opportunity to possibly make a few quid before the “real” racing kicks off as there's the well-publicised charity race at 12.15. Some bloke called Michael Owen appears to be the centre of attention for it (and will no doubt attract the lion's share of the money) but as I've said before, these races can offer up some value if you can put a bit of legwork in. Nevertheless, some saw this as an intrusion on trainers, some as another punters edge disappearing and some thought it wasn't something that was of any relevance anyway. My thoughts on the main piece, plus a few at big prices I'll be chucking a few quid at today. Read More »Wind Ops Wind Up Some Folk…

Wet Wincanton

Good morning all,

Have decided that a long drive and a day of getting wet through (and a whole host of non-runners come racetime, no doubt) isn't really my idea of a good time today so have sacked Wincanton off, and will be happy to watch on the TV this afternoon.

As ever on a Saturday, my views on the main TV races – hopefully there's a winner or two in there, but do bear in mind the ground is only going to get worse as the day progresses and as with last week, the longer you can hold on to place your bets today the better. Read More »Wet Wincanton
