Tracker Tuesday

Morning all,

Inside today’s main piece I have three for the tracker. Plus, I have a selection from this afternoon’s meeting at Catterick. It's another short but hopefully sweet column.

Three For the Tracker

Royaume Uni – Gary Moore

Royaume Uni a comfortable winner of a Plumpton handicap hurdle when last seen in action over the smaller obstacles. Bounced back from a below par effort on the flat last time when a 4 ¼ length 3rd of 12 to Lively Citizen at Cheltenham in Friday. Not sure that Cheltenham is his track and a return to flatter track is likely to suit the 4-year-old. Doing his best work at the finish over 2m 1f here. He looks worth trying over further. Still to prove he wants real deep winter ground but a race like next month’s Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle at Kempton could be ideal for him.

Interne De Sivola – Nick Williams

Saturday’s JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdle has been won by some useful juveniles in recent seasons. Sceau Royal (2015), Defi Du Seuil (2016). Last year’s winner Adagio went on to finish runner-up in last season’s Triumph Hurdle at the festival and is officially rated 152. It looks like this year’s winner Interne De Sivola could turn out to be smart. The 3-year-old built on the promise of Warwick hurdle debut with an improved effort on Saturday. Granted he was able to dictate the pace out in front. However, he jumped well given his relative lack of experience over hurdles and showed a nice change of gear in the straight. There will be more to come from him with racing and he’s lively contender for the Triumph Hurdle back here in March.

Cheddleton – Jennie Candlish

Cheddleton improved for going over fences last season, winning two of his four starts. Looks to have stepped up last season’s form on both starts this season. Firstly, when 2-length 3rd of 6 in a Carlisle Graduation Chase last month. Before finishing a 4 lengths 2nd of 8 to the progressive Editeur du Gite at Cheltenham on handicap chase debut on Saturday. The 6-year-old is already proven on much softer ground than he faced at the weekend so more ease in the ground should suit. He could also be worth a go over further than 2m.

Tuesday Racing

More moderate fare today. There are jumps cards at Catterick and Wincanton. Plus, an tea time all-weather fixture at Newcastle.

Catterick

2:45 – Relkadam, twice a winner last season here and Wetherby, off around today’s mark. The 7-year-old returned from a 5-month break with a respectable 8-length 4th of 13 at Market Rason 12-days ago. The drop back to 2m looks a positive but given he tends to be held up in his races. You wouldn’t want him to be too far off the pace in a race that doesn’t looks overly blessed with early speed.

Good luck with your Tuesday bets.
