Weapons Grade Betting Coup

Barney CurleyIf you're on Twitter or Facebook. Or if you watch the racing channels or keep up to date with the Racing Post news page through out the day then you will have surely realised there was a betting coup going down yesterday.

The value of which depends on how quickly you found out about it.

Unfortunately I was out all day yesterday and didn't hear about it until after the 1st two winners had gone in.

By that time the remaining two horses were trading at odds on prices, so the boat was missed by me 🙁

The bet that was landed was an accumulator on four horses 10-1 Eye Of The Tiger, 6-1 Seven Summits, 20-1 Indus Valley and 7-1 Low Key.

That's an accumulator of 12,935/1.

So just a tenner staked returned £129,350. The man at the heart of this gamble will have got those odds, but many thousands will have had the same bet but at much, much lower odds.

To find out more about Barney Curley and his previous gambles you can read his autobiography.

  1. Dave you’re forgetting Callisto Light in the 7.55 at Kempton. From 16/1 to 7/4: 3 previous runs with ugly form, Michael Squance debut, 2 years absence. Same words about Des Donovan’s horses. Who the hell knows? Could we get those infos early? Is it possible or you need to be an “insider”?
    Greetings from Italy

  2. I selected 3 of the winners without any knowledge of the gamble that was in progress.

Based really on the time away from the racecourse for each horse and certain ratings from my Dataform ratings (£36 per month) I managed to back them but was disappointed by the morning prices, not realising why they where so short.

There are winners to be backed with horses that have been away from racing for whatever reason, every day in fact, it’s just reading the form that’s the difficult bit.

Approach the question by looking at those horses who have been away for 30 days and longer, which is directly opposite the view that the latest form is always the best measure of a horse’s form, then see where that leads you

  3. Funny-this coup seems to be the talk of the racing world today…
I actually received all these selections yesterday by text from a chap called Bob Rothman, but I just ignored it as I’ve heard some bad things about Mr Rothman and I just thought it was a load of bollox-if u excuse my French!
I don’t know what price the selections were at 12.21pm yesterday either but I’m sure they would have been a lot shorter than those quoted above.
Still-a hell of a gamble pulled off-wouldn’t it be great to be drinking buddies with Mr Curley!!!!

  4. Thanks for your comments guys, it’s nice to get them.

I actually had a chat with Barney and he said next time he has a gamble going down he’ll text me and I can tell anybody that posts an interesting comment on my site.

So you 3 are in 🙂

Or did I dream that 😮

    Dave
