As promised last week, today I'm looking at Jockeys that win when they are riding an odds on shot.
The high level figures for horses racing on the flat that start at even money or shorter over the last 3 years is…
Runs = 2108
Wins = 1175
Strike Rate = 55.74%
Loss = 173.50
Return on Investment = – 8.23%
The table below shows the jockeys that have made a profit over the same period.
If we look at the returns for betting any horse running on the flat (turf) when it is priced at Even money or shorter over the last 3 years we get…
Runs = 435
Wins = 289
Strike Rate = 66.44%
Profit = 43.08
Return on Investment = 9.9%
I guess 9.9% ROI doesnt seem like a lot, but because the strike rate is high backers won't need such a large bank as they would for a system with a 20% strike rate.
This also lends itself to a compounding percent of bank staking plan.
In fact in 2013 the longest losing run was four and the longest winning run was Seven.
Tomorrow we'll look at the Chester draw.
